Newbold Spirit quietly celebrated it’s first birthday last weekend. I had imagined that when we reached this milestone that we’d have a massive party for all of Newbold’s friends and supporters – it would be at the Riverside Glass House in Jephson Gardens, there would be a band, nibbles and lots of boozy rum cocktails – I’m guessing it would have been loud and fun.
Plans can change at a drop of a hat and missing out on a party is minor compared to what’s going on in the world, however a birthday is a birthday and it made us reflect on Newbold’s first year and wow – what a year it has been!
We launched at Leamington and Warwick Christmas markets and despite wintery weather we really enjoyed market trading. We were delighted on how well Newbold Spiced Rum was received and even more so when we realised that we were hitting our sales targets! We’d been told to expect a lull in January and February but we marched on through; sales continued and planning for markets and festivals from Spring until Christmas covered three large wall calendars. We were raring to go!
Then of course, like everyone else we were stopped in our tracks by COVID 19. Understandably the hospitality industry nor the markets could continue to operate during lockdown. We were relieved that our new website was up and running and sales could continue. Lockdown gave us time to work on new projects; we learnt to zoom with our distillers and graphic designers and were grateful to many couriers delivering treasure troves of gin and rum samples to our doorstep. The exciting news is that we are now ready to launch two new products: Newbold Cherry Gin and Newbold London Dry Gin.
Throughout Newbold’s first year, one of the best things has been meeting new people. We’ve really enjoyed chatting to customers and listening to their feedback, and we’ve truly appreciated the expertise of all the professional teams who have supported us. The highlight has to be, seeing our ideas come to fruition – when we saw our first labelled bottle.
So, who’s interested in a great big Newbold Spirit party – they’ll be music, nibbles, boozy rum and classy gin – I imagine it will be loud and very fun………………..
